So of my purchases are for this weeks' meal plan. Other things are to stock up and other things are just for normal consumption (ie. fresh produce)
I spent $33.36. This is what $33 can buy you at my favorite store:
- 1 fresh pineapple $2.79
- 1 quart half/half (using this to make my tomato soup) $1.99
- Clementines (these are really good) $3.69
- 16 oz shredded mozzarella (for pizza night) $3.19
- 2 bags of frozen corn $.65 each (I will use half a bag for taco night. The rest is because it was marked down)
- Tub of spreadable butter $.99
- Dried cranberries $1.39 ( a MUST have for salads)
- Tortilla chips $1.19 (their tortilla chips are awesome for the price)
- Taco mix $.35
- Bananas $.84 ($.39/lb)
- mushrooms $.50 (for pizza night)
- bag of spinach $1.69 (a staple for salads)
- carrots $1.69
- green peppers $1.39 (for meatballs and peppers tonight)
- powdered sugar $1.29
- dish soap $1.69 (this soap is not bad for a generic brand)
- ranch dressing $1.19 (I usually make my own but like to have some on hand)
- eggs $1.39
- Iceburg lettuce $1.39 (for salad mix)
- Canned pineapple $.89 (for tonights dinner. My fresh one is not ripe enough to eat yet)
- Garbage bags $2.29
Total spent at Weis $22.22 . Rarely do I spend more than $50/week at a regular grocery store. I did not use any coupons this week. ( I just realized I forgot to include the chicken in my photo:)
- Pack of drumsticks $4.21 (for next Sunday's dinner)
- Pack of thighs $4.93 (already threw this in the freezer for a future meal)
- 2 boneless New York Strip steaks $8.38 (woo hoo! I will share how I scored these tomorrow)
- 1 can pizza sauce $.79
- 1 bunch fresh cilantro $1.00
- 6 Italian Sausage $2.91 (this wasn't a planned purchase, but I will share tomorrow why I bought them)
Total spent so far this week: $55.58
Total spent for January: $55.58
Total spent in 2011: $55.58
(My goal is to spend no more than $400 per month or $4800 a year)
The holidays totally threw off my meal planning and I'm pumped to get back into it for 2011! Isn't Aldi the bomb!?!?!
