Aldi Deals 2/1-2/7 … Plus a handful of tips

Aldi is “hands down” my number 1 suggestion when encouraging others on how to lower their grocery spending.

My local Aldi runs their weekly specials starting on Wednesdays. You can check your local Aldi flyer here. The sales are national, but the day’s they begin may vary.

Baby carrots 16 oz bag $.59 ea

Cherry tomatoes $.99 pint

Broccoli $.99 each

Cauliflower $.99 each

Celery $.79 each

16 inch Cheese Pizza $4.99

16 inch Supreme Pizza $5.99

Tips for Aldi this week:

    1. There are some rockin’ prices on produce.  You will want to incorporate as much of that as possible into your menu.  Vegetable soup anyone?  Seriously, you could pack that soup with fresh veggies for very little cost this week.  To keep down on cost, keep it meatless.  Instead throw in some pasta, rice or beans.
    2. There are times I confuse my children with rabbits because they eat that many carrots. When baby carrots are $.59 a bag?  Holla!  I buy 10 or 12 bags.  At minimum.  We eat the carrots raw, incorporate them into a lot of dishes and freeze them.  Hot cooked carrots with a touch of brown sugar or honey and butter? My kids go nuts.
    3. Broccoli salad is a favorite of my husband and mine.  Perfecto for super bowl weekend.
    4. An avocado special is perfect for homemade guacamole dip and a yummy addition for wraps.
    5. Shake up your dinner with a vegetable tray instead of plain hot cooked vegetables.  Hamburgers and a veggies tray is easy and fun.
    6. Instead of ordering pizza for the game, buy a few prepared hand tossed pizzas.  Of course, it is always cheaper to make homemade pizza, but sometimes that is not convenient.  Aldi’s Mama Cozzi pizzas are actually really good. You could serve 4 xtra large cheese pizzas for only $19.99 !

Obviously you can do a lot of other things with great prices on produce, but these are just a few to get your wheels spinning.

  1. How did I miss the avocados? I snagged some carrots and celery - but I may have to go back for some avocados and broccoli. It will only be me 3rd time this week. :) The first time they were out of rice cakes, and Jonah loves the cheddar cheese flavor for snacks. So, I stopped yesterday and grabbed a half a case after they got their truck unloaded! :) (yes, I squeezed that trip in between our phone call and my client and was a little late!)

    1. Tessa they could be sold out? I get the advertised sales from the flyer for my zipcode as far as I know it's always been accurate, but you never know. 3 times this week? wow..that is a record! I struggle to get there 1 time a week:) and yes...even Aldi can be a struggle for me sometimes:)

  2. How do you freeze the carrots? Do you cook them first?

  3. I hear Aldi is great but I haven't tried it out. I shop at Price Rite instead. It sounds similar. We have both stores on the same road about 2 miles apart. Price Rite is closer to my house so that's where I go. :)

    1. we have both here, but I believe Aldi is cheaper. OUr Price Rite is quite a bit larger and their produce department carries a lot more. They do have great prices on produce, but they carry "brand name" items which makes them more expensive on other items. Try Aldi one week and do a price comparison. Or you could switch them up every other week.
