A few more tips & another shopping trip

As I mentioned in my last post, I typically shop at Weis.  In future posts, I will discuss that decision with you.  I was relying on you all to give us tips on shopping at other grocery stores.

Kelly informed me that her particular Giant marks down their meat every Thursday morning.  They post  the mark downs with yellow stickers. It can get crowded and the markdowned meat goes fast!  Again, do not be afraid to ask the meat department when they markdown meats at your personal store.

Beth gave the great tip of checking the meat in the Nature Own Organic section at Giant.  She has been able to find great discounts on meat there.

Keep those tips coming in!

On another note, I stopped by D&K earlier this week.  It is a drive from my house, however I was stopping by the library so it was on the way.

I spent $27.16 at D&K grocery outlet.  I typically stop by D&K once a month.
  •  I bought 3.5 pounds of cheese $7
  • 6 bottles of juice $6
  • 1 pound of almonds $1.99
  • 1 box of cereal $.99
  • 6 pounds of frozen broccoli $6 (this is where we buy most of our frozen broccoli.  It is giant florets and not stalky at all.   We eat alot of broccoli.
  • 10 pounds of potatoes $3 (you can do slightly better on poatoes at Amelias but I am not going there for another 2 weeks)
  • 2 cartons of beef broth $1 (I usually make my own (and soon you will too:) however I like to have extra on hand.
Total spent so far this week: $82.74 (goal is $100 or less)Total spent for January: $82.74 (goal is $400 or less)
Total spent in 2011: $82.74 (goal is $4800 or less)
If you have a question, please feel free to email me at flamingo.mama@hotmail.com  Questions are starting to come in and I will be addressing each question through posts in the weeks to come.
