It’s menu plan Monday. You still might find yourself saying, “I don’t menu plan” usually with a dramatic flip of the hair. We are not all created the same. Tell me that I should get up at 5am everyday to exercise and pray. We will immediately have relationship issues.
So, when I am consistently recommending menu planning, it is not to change the person you are. Or to drive you crazy. I am consistently recommending menu planning because you may not be doing it , but really should be.
Here are some of the signs that you might need to start menu planning:
~It’s 5pm. Do you find your jaw tightening? Maybe you are mildly beginning to sweat?
~When your child asks you what is for dinner, do you hear yourself scream, “I don’t know! Stop asking!”
~Do you find yourself walking aimlessly in walking in circles opening and closing pantry doors, refrigerator doors and freezer doors?
~Do you make an unplanned stop at the grocery store and wander the aisles hoping that something jumps off the shelf into your cart?
~Do you have the local Chinese restaurant on speed dial? You know…just in case inspiration doesn’t come in the next 5 minutes.
~Do you find yourself serving a nutritional dinner of Lucky Charms and Cheerios? Again. For the 3rd night this week.
~Do you go through the drive through and say, “mommy thought we’d do something special for dinner tonight!”? When actually it was not a planned special treat. It is the result of pure “oh no I need to feed them!” panic.
~Do you put dinner on the table at 9pm because it took you 4 hours to figure out exactly what was going to be put on the table?
If you have at least 2 of the above symptoms on a regular basis, you might need to start the ever dreaded menu planning. I don’t know. Just going out on a limb here. And I recognize these symptoms with personal expertise. No pretentiousness here. Just sayin’.
So what is my menu plan for the week? It’s simple because it’s mostly just the kids and I eating dinner this week. Strange schedule again.
Barbeque meatballs, rice and veggie
Funky chinese chicken and noodles
Breakfast pizza (yep. It’s brupper)
Peanut satay chicken (new recipe to try), fried rice, veggie
Broccoli, cheese potato soup (will have to share this one soon. My kids thought it was divine)
Pizza

LOL We call it "Brinner" instead of Brupper. What do you do for breakfast pizza? Sounds good!
ReplyDeleteHow about ... do you have to go to the grocery store multiple times a week ... maybe even every day? Do you try to figure out how you are going to squeeze in a quick grocery store trip into your already busy schedule? On the way to the grocery store, do you strategically plan how you are going to pick up everything you need in a matter of minutes? Therefore, perpetuating the vicious cycle of needing to go to the grocery store every day since you only give yourself enough time to run in and grab exactly what you need for dinner. :) Ahh, that would be me.
