I am going through a decorating identity crisis. We have been in our home for 6 years. When we moved here, I was addicted to HGTV. I had creative visions and inspiration. Of course, a lot of my decor comes from thrift stores, clearance shelves, yard sales and off the curb.
Somewhere along the way I lost my visionary force. Yea, it probably has something to do with adding 2 more lil’ flamingos to my flock. However, I was content with the stagness of my decor. However, now I am getting itchy for something different.
So what do when you are in that place of feeling discontent with your surroundings? You want an immediate change, but you don’t have the money to spend for a major revamp. There is an easy and frugal solution. Simply switch things up.
Move a couch to a different wall.
Take an end table from your living room and move it to your bedroom.
Take your curtains down. It will be a dramatic change that can give your room a whole new feel . (I would suggest buying new curtains but that can be costly)
Rummage through your basement. Amazing what you find down there that you forgot you had.
Change the photographs you have displayed.
Spray paint. Oh the beauty of a small inexpensive can. Spray your black picture frames white. Spray your old brass hanging light black or pewter.
Take a walk through nature. Cool twigs and sticks can make awesome decorations.
The little changes will feel like a breath of fresh air. Even little changes can feel dramatic when you put them all together.
There are so many other inexpensive ways to give your a home a quick facelift. Have you done anything lately to give your home a new look on the cheap?

A couple of months ago we re-painted our kitchen and I re-did the decor in there. (We're getting our house ready to sell so I have a little money to spend on that kind of stuff.) The valances from the kitchen are still good so I put them up in the living room. Changed the whole feel of the room. I always keep my curtains so I can re-use them when the change-it-up mood strikes. :)
ReplyDeleteOn Mother's Day, I filled every room with a bunch of lily of the valley that I picked from the yard. The entire house had a breath of life, and smelled like heaven. The best things in life ARE free!!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for the shout out, miss. frugal!!
